After some commercial success with his Sydney band WiZaRD, Australian born musician Dion Palumbo went on a mission to explore the UK scene, where so many of the greats have come from. Settling in Liverpool in 2003, Dion started the project "ThemBones", acquiring the services of session musicians who were members of the Liverpool based 'Frank Zappa' tribute band, "The Muffin Men".
brand of 70's/90's influenced rock and grunge to the local scene, Palumbo started gaining influences from where he was living, honing his songwriting skills and writing alot of songs to cope with the initial culture shock of the UK winter.
In between to-ing and fro-ing between Australia and England, sparked a move an hour up the road to the pop culture city of Manchester, expanding the musical influences, and regularly recording and gigging with 'ThemBones' - LEEDS FESTIVAL production party 09 being one of the many highlights. 2010 inspired a change of name and direction, incorporating an acoustic set to the project as well as flat out rock under his surname PALUMBO, releasing new single 'The Glow'.
Now Palumbo has been drawn south to the big smoke to pursue his career as a producer and performer in London. Rock, funk or acoustic.
Born out of L.C.C.M, Southwark, January 27th 2011 @ The Miller in London Bridge debuted new and current 9 piece funk/rock outfit: PALUMBO & THE FUNK ! A big sound which fills the atmosphere fusing catchy melodies, 3 part vocal harmonys and elements of "Sgt Pepper" type brass lines with a funky guitar keys bass and drums rythmn section. The songs go on an inspired musical journey and carry a positive message to the listener, incorporating rock, funk,folk, jazz, reggae and blues. The band boasts an international line up featuring members from ENGLAND, ITALY, SPAIN, CROATIA, TURKEY, ESTONIA, SWEDEN and AUSTRALIA
