HeadBoXX Ft. Niamh Collins, TuneBreaker Inaugural Winners Top The Hit Sheet

HeadboXX blew the audience away with their high energy set, they were joined on stage by Bell X 1 Drummer Rory Doyle, Declan Quinn and Joe Donegan who frequently work with Zamo and Niamh. Singer/songwriters John Smith and Ed Darragh were also invited to play on the night. Nevertheless, the road to picking up that Award was not all smooth, midway through the sales led voting system a four piece industry panel were brought into select the top 50 they thought had the most chance of picking up the award and succeeding. Only one panellist (a certain Mr Kramer) could see what HeadboXX were truly made of as the other three panned the band. As serendipity would have it, two acts were forced to pull out of the panel selection and HeadboXx who had been No 1 for some 6 consecutive weeks were rightfully reinstated and went on to prove their worth. The results of their Award have been invested into their Debut Single “Joy”.

Paul Kramer is used by UK top music industry insiders: Louis Walsh: Simon Cowell: Simon Fuller: Major Record Company Execs: Press: Radio & TV

Aka The Tipster / The Gate Keeper / The Tastemaster his HIT SHEET receives hundreds of tracks per week to review for A-List UK Radio Stations, A&R, Record Company Execs, Press and TV. He filters through for who he believes is current and or the next big thing. 90% records fail the test on a monthly basis. Only 10 artists per month make the ‘RECORD OF THE WEEK’ selection. One Irish unsigned band has totally grabbed Kramer’s attention this issue. Here’s why. Their light fun poptastic edgy dance tune called “Joy” Watch the video

HIT SHEET – MAY ISSUE 2011
Our publisher first heard this track when he sat on the judging panel of the Tunebreaker.com Unsigned Artists competition.

He declared that Joy was a potential huge summer hit in the clubs and on the radio. Needless to say Headboxx ft Niamh Collins went on to win the substantial cash first prize (£10,000). Joy is a fantastic 3 minutes of pop music with a catchy hook that once it worms its way into your head will take some persuasion to leave.

We can think of several A&R who will be on a plane to Dublin very soon in order to sign up this potential #1 hit.

HeadboXX are Zamo Riffman (Bass/co-writer) who played with Rory Gallagher, chief Writer / non-performing Producer Ken Drakeford and the gorgeous and talented Niamh Collins, who is both the vocal and focal point. The whole project is masterminded by former RTE producer composer Ed Darragh.

Niamh has previously appeared with a host of top names including Rod Stewart and Enrique Inglesias. On the recent promo tour to the USA Niamh got her first celebrity fan in WWF star Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. As far as we’re concerned Joy is a total knockout and will be swerving its way up the charts in the coming months.

BIOG

HeadboXX set up camp in Dublin May 1st last year (2010). Consisting of three essential elements; Niamh Collins (Lead Singer / co-writer) Zamo Riffman (Bass / co-writer) and chief Writer / Producer Ken Drakeford who is the tune-writing brains behind this hit machine that is HeadboXX Ft. Niamh Collins. All three come with an outstanding list of credible artists they have worked with over the past; Zamo Riffman’s life as a live performer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist was with Rory Gallagher when Riffman was just 16 years old. Ms Collins has with Rod Stewart, Enrigue Inglesis, Shane Ward and more. However it was through a chance meeting last July when Niamh Collins and former RTE TV and Radio producer, composer Ed Darragh met when they were on the same bill at a local festival in Ireland that things for HeadboXX began to kick in. Darragh was more than impressed with what she saw in Niamh Collins on stage and having met with the band, listened to several demos she immediately offered to jump onboard as a freelance A&R producer. Ed put a shape on the band and went in search of a unique vehicle to break them. Three Months later, while googling for inspiration she came across a UK based new music online movement called TuneBreaker.com, her years in radio and television didn’t go to waste –she spent several weeks researching TuneBreaker and the team behind it, headed up by former Virgin Records Executive John Toone. By mid October Ed was satisfied that this new revolution was a way for her to get HeadboXX noticed. The TuneBreaker Inaugural New Music Award was offering a £10,000 cheque & Award to the highest downloaded artist between December and March (2011). It was up to each and every artist to push themselves across all global social networks to get people downloading and voting for them. They entered the charts in December at #147 and slowly climbed their way up to #9 then #4 and by New Years Eve of this year they made # 1. And there they stayed until March 3rd when the Inaugural Charts closed. The Awards took place in Dublin March 6th 2011

A revolutionary new Music Industry concept with the global appeal of iTunes, MySpace, MTV & the Grammies, is set to consign the traditional record company model to history. UK & Irish centered TuneBreaker (www.tunebreaker.com) is an organic youth driven music platform, founded by industry vet John Toone, which allows unsigned acts from anywhere in the world to upload their music and video (via its Facebook & You Tube pages), to its global platform, and artists get 50% of the net revenue for every download & a chosen charity also gets a slice (retail price £0.60p approx. $0.95/E0.70). Crucially, it is free to upload and artists retain all rights.

TuneBreaker is open to any unsigned or independent artist irrespective of their talents abilities or stage of development. By signing up they commercially release their music, promote themselves, have the ability to reach a global fan base & be seen by the world’s music and media companies. “In our Inaugural Award we sold many thousands of downloads (zero illegal downloads!), heard stories of artists getting record deals, others getting paid or promotional opportunities which is both what we wanted to happen at the outset & fantastic news, but don’t take my word for it, check out what artists say about TuneBreaker in our EPK!,” says Toone, also citing Inaugural winners HeadboXX (winners of the £10,000 prize), who leave for a promo tour of the States for “JoyBringer” their first single, which is also being widely tipped by major industry players to be a summer sensation (pre-release sales only at TuneBreaker from 18.4.11).

In four short months, hundreds of bands have already signed up to TuneBreaker (with more adding themselves daily), proving it is already a trusted place by artists to sell be paid well & get great exposure, with the amazing added incentive to budding artists that all sales are converted into votes in the TuneBreaker Live Chart™, with a monthly four figure cash prize being handed out to the act that sell the most each month.

“After an incredibly successful Inaugural Uk & Irish Award, we are now proud to open up the Tunebreaker Awards to the world’s unsigned artists; TuneBreaker is free to join at any time – it is simple and quick to get started – each artist uploads between 2-5 tracks, a photo, biog & links to their social network places and then they are set to launch themselves on the world!”, says Toone.
